A Tribute to a Trash Hauler

Ted Lee

Customers of Reston Trash recently received this card with their quarterly bills. Family-run businesses are becoming rare, and heartfelt messages like this are rarer still. A customer writes:

Ted worked for Reston Trash for 30 years, and I think he was one of those unsung heroes who made Reston a better place to live in.  Despite the hard physical nature of his job, whether working in a brutal summer heat wave, a pouring rain, or sub-freezing temperatures -- and I saw him working in all those conditions -- he indeed always did have a sunny disposition and a nice word.  Ted embodied the phrase "customer service", and he truly will be missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to know him, even if only in passing.
A nice tribute.

  2. I got this, as well. I thought it was really nice tribute to Ted. This would be a good time to plug Reston Trash. They are a local business and incredibly reliable. Their per-bag option has saved me a lot over the years--especially since the county expanded the recycling program. I've used them for 10 years and am very happy with them.

  3. Have used them for 18 years and they have always been reliable and considerate. In fact, the day Mr. Lee passed I think was the only day they've ever been late - my husband asked when he saw them because we knew something must have been wrong. All their employees have been professionals and we will miss Mr. Lee.
