Breaking: Shocking Photographic Evidence of New Carb-Intensive Eatery in Reston Town Center

IMG_20101212_121548.jpg

At incredible personal risk, confidential Restonian Operative "Richard" snapped this furtive photograph of Vapiano, the carb-intensive pastaery that will soon be joining the cupcakery and saladery in Reston's fake downtown gritty urban core. While this alone is not enough to set the Macaroni Grill Doomsday Clock (tm) a minute closer to midnight, we did nudge the second hand a little.

  1. I'd rather have a Dunkin Donuts in RTC.

Vapianio is actually a decent place for a chain.

Good list. A few additions to help RTC live up to its new moniker of "gritty urban core":

-- Dollar store, to buy all that lead-contaminated crap from China

-- "Adult entertainment" store, to leer at "feelthy pictures"

-- Off-track betting parlor, to play the ponies

-- Funeral home, for the working stiffs

-- KFC outlet, for upscale dining by the lumpenproletariat

-- Bail bondsman, to assist the clientele of the Gulag

-- Immigration law office, to handle the overflow from Herndon

    Did I forget anything?

  5. Yes, 2:16. The anchor store of every Gritty Urban Core has got to the Pay Day Loan shop. No money means no hair extensions.

Good catch, Convict; I was amiss in forgetting the Pay Day Loan shop. A few more I missed that would give RTC the authentic urban vibe:

-- School of cosmetology, to learn how to do those hair extensions

-- Auto body shop, in case your Chevy was at the levee but the levee wasn't dry because it was parked at the London Avenue Canal in New Orleans

-- Storefront evangelical church, for the faithful

-- And finally, what would any awesome Gritty Urban Core be without...a bodega! (or at least a "grosery" store)

Exterior of all establishments listed here and in previous posts to be festooned with accordion gates or pull-down security shutters, strings of multi-colored plastic pennants, and flashing electic lights.

  10. I'm also a fan of Vapiano's, although the way you order the meal is unusual and involves a bit more standing around than, say, Pei Wei. In my experience with the Ballston Vapiano's, the food was delicious and the price was reasonable. I welcome them to RTC. And I tried the cupcake place with my better half, and it was delicious. But the gelato place is insanely good. I am pleased with the recent additions. Now... can we get cool stadium seating at the local multiplex? I need somewhere dark to spend 2 hours eating my smuggled-in cupcakes and I don't want an obstructed view.
