Burgerpocalyspe Now: Fox Mill Five Guys to Close, Joins Shuttered Fry Pit in Herndon

One Guy.jpegSHOCKING news out of Fox Mill, as first reported by one of our commenters earlier this week: The Fox Mill Five Guys, where one can purchase french fries by the sack, is closing later this month -- on June 16, to be precise. What's worse, it joins the Five Guys location on Elden Street in Herndon in the Graveyard of Lost Lamented Eateries -- the Herndon location also recently closed, perhaps in light of the upscale retail that's popped up nearby.

That leaves us with just one guy location, the one in Plaza America. Are we approaching a state of burger singularity? Will we someday face the true existential dilemma of the early 21st century -- whether to slum it at McTacoHut or go upscale at one of the fake downtown gritty urban core's artisanal burgeries? The mind boggles (and the stomach jiggles).

In what is almost certainly a coincidence, our BFFs at Patch posted this article earlier this week:

No words. Just feeding our feelings over here at Restonian World Headquarters.

  1. I only ate there once and I think I was full for a week. Fox Mill has a disproportionately high number of food places in relation to the retail space there. And the one in Herndon was in a TERRIBLE location! Who would eat greasy, heart stopping burgers when you can have Mom's organic and every kind of international flavor you want?

Did you know a Mellow Mushroom will be opening in Herndon where the Fuddruckers was? I think it's supposed to open mid summer.

    3. Really not very good or many eateries in Fox Mill. Five Guys crash was proceeded by a McDonalds' in the same spot. We also lost Pizza Hut and an Indian Restaurant. Chinese still hanging in there with good food, but there never seems to be many customers enjoying their nice dining room or, not so great, bar. I was hoping for something good when the Blockbuster store went, but pet food is not my thing. Fox Mill is old enough now to morph into a trendy new urban outpost, don't you think?

  2. Has anyone been to the BRB Burger joint in Reston Town Center recently? Any thoughts?

  4. I only went to BRB once, not terribly recently, and I was not so impressed. I'll be sticking with the 5 Guys at Plaza America when I don't want to make my own burger

  5. Maybe they can open one where the horrible Burger King is in the Hunter Woods Shopping center. They have notoriously served horrible food consistently over last ten years, so it would benefit everyone. South Reston would have a great burger joint again.

    1. Agreed that BK in Hunters Woods, but the great burger joint should be somewhere else. Hunters Woods has crime problems. I only go there in daylight or when there is no other alternative. I'll go to Oak Marr instead of RCC.

    2. C'mon man. What are you talking about? Do you have statistics to show it is unsafe in the Hunters Mill shopping area at night? I'm not talking about the dark paths through the woods either where no one should be at night without a big junkyard dog. The more business in an area, the safer it is, so we should encourage new small restaurants and stores in Hunters Woods.
