On the YouTubes: We Watch the Reston Association Videos So You Don't Have To

Christmas just came early at Restonian World Headquarters, as the December edition of RA Today unexpectedly popped up on our You Tubes machine! Dulcet-toned host Andy Sigle gave us quite a fright by walking dangerously close to traffic zipping by on the Toll Road by way of introducing a conversation about the Reston Master Plan Task Force With a Name So Long That By The Time He Finished Saying It, It Was Time To Roll the End Credits (RMPTFWANSLTBTTHFSIIWTTRTEC). Paul Thomas, RA's rep on the task force, updates us on where things stand as lots of hott maps and whatnot fly by on the screen. Thomas tells us that final recommendations will be issued by spring or early summer, as work continues on "wording and figuring out densities," which are probably of equal importance.

But that's not all! We're reminded that the 2011 RA Board elections are right around the corner, with a meeting for prospective candidates next Wednesday, Dec. 15. Then Sigle goes back to college, where instead of attending a kegger he visits the Planned Community Archives at George Mason University, shockingly not lowering his voice to a whisper as he strolls through a library with a librarian, who opens a box to show him the historic goldenrod carbon copy of the first DRB violation written in our beloved beige community which GMU has thoughtfully preserved for future generations, the end.

  1. Someone should print this "web log" out, put it in a shoebox, and send it to the folks at George Mason for their archives. Now THAT would be something for future generations to try to figure out.

So what and to whom was the first DRB violation written for? Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. LOL, I can imagine some Ph.D. candidate in 2347 doing his or her dissertation on "Mauve and Its Influences in the Portrayal of HOAs in 21st Century Blogs." Automatic tenure!

WTF Restonian!? You made Andy look bad with YOUR crappy cropping.

Apologies to Sigle. The actual RA video is very nicely framed and wide format. Restonian just lazily cut off the right third or so of the frame to fit his filthy web log's format.

Rage now directed towards Restonian: GET IT TOGETHER MAN! DON'T MAKE CRAPPY CROPS!

In Restonian's defense the cropping was probably done by the blogger web site software.

  7. As befits our neo-Socialist utopia, it was totally appropriate that only the far right was cropped out of the frames.

  8. I am shocked that they were handling such valuable historical documents without gloves!

And Peasant, did you notice that a Hunters Woods spot is up for grabs? We want Peasant! We want Peasant!

    Lovingly signed, the masses

    Anon 9:32 -

The Peasant is touched by the affection of the masses, but first a campaign platform would be needed. A few possible planks for the standard-bearer of the Reston Agricultural Party:

-- Effective immediately, the DRB ban on red mulch and white stone is overturned.

-- Vegetable gardens in the front yard permitted.

-- Open season on Bambi 365 days a year!

-- Reston Town Center to be demolished and the site converted into a dairy farm.

-- Stimulus funds to be used to begin construction of the Intra-Reston Canal and Waterway System, linking the four Great Lakes of Reston and with an eventual connection to the Potomac River.

-- All closed door meetings of the RA to somehow 'happen' to end up on WikiLeaks.

  10. Again trying to take credit for Koozman I see Peasant!

I agree with 4 of 6. That's not too bad. Maybe you'll have my vote, but I'm not in your district, unless you are running (and now you pretty much have to) for an at-large seat.

  11. A Peasant on the Reston Politburo? It brings a tear to my Red eyes.
