With Ceremonial Dumping of the Filing Cabinets, Reston Association Move Begins

342797_720134455.jpgAt long last, we get a furtive glimpse of the contents of the Reston Association's filing cabinets! Apparently the RA got help from some interns at AOL to throw all those historic goldenrod copies of the DRB violations of yesteryear into some decidedly non-earth toned plastic totes to get ready for its move across the Toll Road to the fancy new place with the child labor cubbies.

In case you've been remiss in picking up your pool passes, RA headquarters is open today, but the phones are down. The building will be closed both tomorrow and Monday as the move continues, and the headquarters will reopen bright and early on Tuesday in its new location, at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive.

Good luck, RA staffers, with the move. Just remember -- lift with your legs, not your back.

  1. Welcome to the Gulag, RA! May your non-TOD automobiles not get jacked while you're still in them.

  3. I bet there will be a ton of non-shredded personal information in the dumpsters outside of Issac Newton Sq. this afternoon.

I unfortunately think you're right. Now if you or someone else associated with this blog perhaps do some covert dumpster diving tonight and in fact retrieve some documents with such personal information, we'd have a Restonian world exclusive

  5. And is Milt actually doing any lifting, shredding, or managing in this whole move? Or is it his brief to direct and delegate...or be invisible?

Ha ha - my word verification is "tabled"

We need a song for this momentous occasion. So, with apologies to C.W. McCall and his legendary "Convoy" tune that's impossible to get out of your head:

Ah, breaker one-nine, this here's your Uncle Milt. You gotta copy on me, DRB, c'mon? Ah, yeah, 10-4, DRB, fer shure, fer shure. By golly, it's clean clear to Sunrise Valley, c'mon. Yeah, that's a big 10-4 there, DRB, yeah, we definitely got the front door, good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy...

Was the RA move on the 23rd of July
In a moving van pullin' pool passes
And with all them file cabinets flying by
And the RA is hauling its asses
We is headin' for bear, going full tilt
'Bout a mile outta the Wiehle overpass
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's your Uncle Milt.
"And I'm about to put my foot on the gas."

    [Chorus]
'Cause we got a little convoy
    Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
    Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
    'Cross Reston Parkway.
    Convoy!

  7. Just when I thought I had that tune purged from my brain forever...

  8. Are they getting a new sign that will be visible from Reston Parkway? Will it approved by the DRB? Did they collect the signatures from Sprint and their surrounding Corporate America neighbors?

  9. Welcome to South Reston. May you be forever stuck in the traffic of poorly timed lights.

  10. To the North, the best. To the South, the section 8 and crime infested areas.

  11. That may be so, but we have fun. After all, when was the last time that North Reston got treated to an improptu air show by the FCPD Helicopter division?

We're always in the newspaper. When was the last time that North Reston made the newspaper? Lastly, when was the last time that North Reston made the front page of this filthy web log?

  12. And all of it proudly sponsored with taxpayer money spent by Cathy Hudgins and Fairfax County!

  13. I may not get to see the FCPD helicopter over on the north side of the toll road but I get to see the medevac helicopter going to the hospital fairly often. That thing is loud. But hopefully saving lives.
