Our Ursine Overlords Are Coming to Devour Us All, But No Need to Panic

YOGI---BOOBOO.jpegFairfax County Police said today that the "first seasonal reports of bear sightings" have been made in and around Reston.

Police received the first seasonal reports of bear sightings in 2011 on Thursday, June 9 around 6:30 a.m. near Holly Briar Lane in Great Falls. Callers reported a medium-sized black bear crossing the road near Hollyview Drive, heading toward the woods. Police also received three reports on Friday, June 10 around 6:30 a.m. near Bennington Woods Road, Stowe Road, and a walking trail near Autumn Wood Drive.

According to animal control officers, it is not unusual to see black bears at this time of year and residents should not panic or feel alarmed when they see one.
"But watch out for your pic-i-nic baskets," police did not say, the end.

  1. We have had black bear in Reston before. Black bear actual attacks are very rare in the east.

  2. Finally! God's about to get His revenge on wicked north Reston, 2 Kings 2:24 style!

  3. More like the curse of the Gorey Alphabet:

"B is for Basil, assaulted by bears"

  4. I just saw a medium sized black bear run across sunrise valley drive Monday 6/20 just passed Indian ridge rd. toward the golf course. Pretty amazing. About 2am.
