Sad: Forest Edge Principal to Retire After 21 Years at Reston School

Admin_Bensinger, Frank.JPGFrank Bensinger, who has been principal at Forest Edge Elementary for the past 21 years, has announced he will retire at the end of the school year.

"After a lot of discussion with my family and friends, I realize that it is time to close this fulfilling chapter in my life and move on to alternative ways to have a positive impact on others and the community," Bensinger wrote in a letter to the school community.

Bensinger has been a fixture at Forest Edge for generations of kids and set a highly student-centered tone. He'll definitely be missed.

(Shout out to several Confidential Restonian Operatives who brought this to our attention.)

  1. Will miss the stories, the wisdom but most of all the leadership. We hope that they promote from within and don't bring in someone from the outside.

  2. Agree, Anon 12:54. His leadership makes Forest Edge a place where the kids' needs really do come first. And yes, promote from within. Forest Edge has a couple of excellent assistant principals who know and really care about the kids and have learned from Mr. Bensinger's leadership style.

  3. Frank was a unique individuel that cared very much about all the children at his school. No one can fill his shoe. I am not sure anyone within the school can be a good candidate. Good Luck Forest Edge.

  4. What a great school and a great leader, but all good people retire (!), and I am sure the next leader will be just as effective as Mr. B.
