To Follow Hunter Mill Road Detour, Just Look for the Giant Blue Arrows

Those late night trips between those fancy McMansions along Hunter Mill Road and the Macaroni Grill will take a bit longer the rest of this week, as the portion of Hunter Mill Road that goes under the Toll Road will be closed from 11am-5pm through Oct. 15 as work continues on the bridge that will carry the Metro above it.

Fortunately, the folks at the airport authority took time away from their busy schedule of planning the Particleboard Beltway to provide this helpful map:

If the arrows are any indication, watch out for head-on collisions on the Wiehle Avenue bridge.

All in all, this is a short-term pain, but maybe less so in the future if those new bridges across the Toll Road ever get built.

  1. Restonians may want to visit the Wednesday Farmers Market which will be special this week featuring the Rodney Richardson jazz band, glasses of wine and free samples. Some may wonder if the Restonian himself will come so exciting is this farmers markek! Try not to determine who he might be if he dose come.

Last week we had one of our Northern Neck vegetable growers bring in a whole table full of locally grown tomatoes just like the middle of summer so prolific is he! I think there will be two apple orchards represented. And yes there will be knife and scissor sharpening. If that's not enough, free range turkeys will be available for purchase! The turkeys themselves will not be there but you will be able to place a order for them! Reston Parkway and Sunrise Valley Drive, entrance on Sunrise Valley Drive right next to National Reality 3:30-6:30
