Following a budget compromise the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors reached last week, it looks as though the massive Fairfax Connector and RIBS service cuts have been averted. At least they're in the draft budget, and given the public outcry and the folly of cutting mass transit at a time when the county is pushing transit-oriented development in Reston and elsewhere along the Metro corridor, it's unlikely they'll be on the chopping block again... at least this year.

Buspocalypse Now Appears to Be Averted, For Now

On mass transit subject I heard a important news item on public radio this afternoon about both governors and the Mayor of DC agreeing that Metro needed more supervision from the tri states. That they were contributing money but that there was not enough accountability.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound like they made MWAA cough up the money as they SHOULD have done!
