I love how the only institution that never shovels its sidewalks and forces people to walk into traffic near a busy intersection so they can catch their bus at Reston East Park and Ride is the Fire Department.

In our neighborhood we had an impromptu 'snow emergency' party Saturday night and helped each other shovel out on Sunday. And took photos of the house whose occupants are down South right now so they can see how much fun they missed!

Seriously, I think this kind of thing is good for all of us once in a great while. Sure helps us figure out priorities!

One of my neighbors was gone all weekend. Her assigned spot is right at the end of the snow plow run. Guess who's spot got filled with 5 feet of compacted snow.

She should probably be glad though. The snow was going in that spot whether or not her car as there -- it's because of the geometry of the parking lot. If her car had been there, she wouldn't be able to move it at all. At least now, she has access to her vehicle unlike some other neighbors who live at the other end of the parking lot. I only hope that they have enough eggs, milk and toilet paper to make it through the Siege cause their cars won't be going any place until Spring.

As a gesture of kindness, I suppose that I'll help her shovel out one of the unassigned spots. I'll try to avoid cackling while I'm at it.

What classy signage! It says not to "push" snow there, but says nothing about blowing or dumping snow, so I say those are what this person really wants people to do...
